1-1 Properties of Real Numbers

• Know the subsets of real numbers, especially the difference between rational and irrational numbers
• Know how to order all types of numbers combined
• Be able to find and use both additive and multiplicative inverses
• Know your real number properties
• Simplify using absolute value

1-2 Algebraic Expressions

• Know Order of Operations
• Be able to evaluate expressions, including negative numbers and exponents
• Be able to simplify algebraic expressions by:
  • Using the distributive property
  • Combining like terms

1-3 Solving Equations

• Be able to solve ALL equations
• Be able to write an equation from a word problem and then solve

1-4 Solving Inequalities

• Be able to solve ALL inequalities
• Know how to graph inequalities
• Know what it means to have “All Solutions” or “No Solutions”
• Be able to solve and graph compound inequalities
• Solve a tolerance problem

1-5 Absolute Value Equations and Inequalities

• Be able to solve all absolute value equations
• Understand what an extraneous solution is
• Be able to solve and graph absolute value inequalities
